Technical Engineering Lead | Networks and Telecommunications

I define network solutions, automate repetitive tasks and document each improvement.

Projects

Documented cases in automation, backups and the diagnosis of a GPON incident.

GPON: from a Wi-Fi symptom to a provisioning fault

I investigated intermittent outages and problems opening web pages at an educational centre. The diagnosis ruled out radio-frequency issues and narrowed the incident to connectivity between the ONT and OLT.

The fault was identified as a provisioning problem. After the system was reprovisioned, the service worked again and the procedure was recorded in a provisioning guide.

Working method

Three steps for solving network problems and leaving solutions that are easy to repeat.

  1. Diagnose

Review the available information and rule out hypotheses until the source of the problem is located.

  2. Validate

Test equipment, configurations and outputs before adopting an improvement.

  3. Document

Write down the procedure and prepare material that makes the solution repeatable.
